NEVADA – The Fair Fight Action Task Force, composed of community forward organizations, has formed with the intent of ensuring the integrity of the Nevada election. Members of the Task Force include: Fair Fight Action, ACLU of Nevada, All Voting is Local, America Votes Nevada, Battle Born Progress, Culinary Union, For Our Future Nevada, MPower 360, Native Voters Alliance Nevada, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN), and Silver State Voices.

The Fair Fight Action Task Force released the following statement on behalf of its members:

“We have formed this Task Force in order to ensure that every vote is counted in the 2020 general election in Nevada. Amidst calls for a hasty declaration of the winner or legal attempts to stop or slow down the counting of votes, our Task Force has formed to protect the integrity of the results by working with state and local leaders and election officials to count every vote in Nevada before results are finalized.”

“With record rates of Nevadans voting by mail, election officials will require and must have the necessary time needed to verify every vote and count accurately. We have a high degree of trust in our County Registrars across the state to count every vote cast in this election. No candidate, media organization, or political party should rush to make an announcement about who has won the election this evening. Counting every vote is a sign our democratic process is working and we will do whatever it takes to make sure that our democracy stands and every vote is counted.”

“The United States has held elections and upheld peaceful transitions of power in times of great crisis before, such as the Civil War, the Great Depression, and both World Wars. This year, COVID-19 has taken loved ones from our community and destabilized our economy. But our election will still take place and all votes must still be counted. We trust Nevada Attorney General Aaron D. Ford to protect our democratic process and the rights of voters to ensure all votes get counted.”

Spokespeople in Spanish or English are available for individual interviews.
