Native Voters Alliance Nevada Announces Leadership Transition
NEVADA — Native Voters Alliance Nevada (NVAN) today announced a leadership transition that has been thoughtfully developed. Executive Director Taylor Patterson will assume a new role as Board Chair beginning August 1, 2025. Barbara Hartzell, currently Board Chair and a key leader in NVAN’s growth and development, will become the organization’s next Executive Director.
This leadership change has been collaboratively planned by Patterson, Hartzell, and the NVAN Team to ensure continuity and long-term growth. Patterson is shifting her role to focus on organizational oversight while also prioritizing time with her daughter. She will remain actively involved in NVAN’s work, continuing to lead strategy, partnerships, and governance.
Taylor Patterson, incoming Board Chair of Native Voters Alliance Nevada, issued the following statement:
“Leading NVAN has been the greatest honor of my life. From fighting to designate Avi Kwa Ame to building real Indigenous political power in Nevada, this work is about more than policy—it’s about protecting our homelands, our communities, and our future. I’m stepping into this new role on the Board to stay fully rooted in the movement while also showing up for my family in a new way. I trust this team with my whole heart, and I believe in Barbara’s leadership without hesitation. NVAN’s future is powerful, and I’m proud to be part of shaping what comes next.”
Barbara Hartzell, incoming Executive Director of Native Voters Alliance Nevada, issued the following statement:
